Deck the Halls

When the holiday season rolls around, there’s nothing that excites us more than all the festivities that ensue.   From festive holiday dishes to trimming the tree to decking the halls while blasting some classic holiday tunes, the holiday season  really is the most wonderful time of the year.

In early December, we ventured out to select the most perfect Christmas tree.  For the past few years, we have had a fake tree, so we were super excited to get a real one this year to adorn our new space for the holiday season.  We headed over to Target to pick up some decorations from Joanna and Chip Gaines’s new line, Hearth and Hand.   We chose pieces that highlighted our minimalist decor while adding a cozy element. We also broke out some of our woodland creatures from Pier 1 which really helped to amp up the coziness. You can find similar ones here and here.

We love to leave little hints of Christmas all over the apartment, decorating shelves, placing festive pillows on the couch, hanging wreaths, etc.  The carolers have been in the family for some time, and really capture the nostalgia of the Christmas season, so we were quick to grab them when our mother was parting with them. The couch, from Article may just be one of the coziest spots to curl up with a nice cup of tea or hot chocolate to enjoy the twinkling lights on the tree or to watch snow fall from the window.

Once we were all decked out, we poured a White Russian (one of our favorite winter cocktails), sat back on the couch and enjoyed some holiday cookies.  It’s hard to believe that in just a few short weeks we will be packing up the decor.  Until then… we will be fa-la-la-la-la-ing  around the house soaking up every last minute of the holiday season.
